California State Championships

1. Week in Review

This week was a huge win. Our athlete Dorsey competed at the California State Championships, stepping on stage for the very first time — and showed out. At over 40 years old, a full-time speaker and father, he reminded everyone that age doesn’t limit potential. Dorsey earned Top 5 placings in three Men’s Physique classes. His discipline and mindset made this a standout weekend for the whole team.

2. Highlight of the Week

Growth doesn’t always mean stepping on stage. Two of our athletes were aiming for an upcoming show, but I knew we weren’t stage-ready yet. I had to have the real conversation — pushing back on the timeline so we could keep pushing forward on the quality. A competition date should serve your prep, not control it. It’s about showing up at your best, not just showing up.

3. Deep Dive

Expectations can sabotage progress. When you're locked in on a specific outcome, you create room for frustration and burnout. I've seen it in my own IFBB Pro journey, and now I coach with that perspective in mind. We don’t let timelines dictate excellence — we let preparation lead the way. That’s how we grow.

4. Coaching Insight

Treat your improvement season like prep.
This isn’t downtime — it’s go time in disguise. Your offseason needs boundaries, consistency, and purpose. The best physiques are built when no one’s watching.

5. Athlete Shoutout

Dorsey — what a debut. First show ever. Over 40. Stepped into the California State Championships with a pro-level mindset and brought it home. Three top 5 finishes. Locked in the whole way. Couldn’t be prouder.

6. What’s Next

Boris and Sandile are entering the Red Zone — the last 4–5 weeks of prep. This is where it gets real. Rapid changes. Sharp focus. This stretch separates the committed from the casual.

7. Personal Reflection

I’ve been reminding myself that progress doesn’t require perfection. Sometimes I feel like if it’s not all the way there, I should hold back. But that mindset kills momentum. A moment of stillness, some honest reflection, and getting back to my roots always helps reset the fire.
